Koru Games
The activity I did was Football.
Two highlights from Koru Games
Being part of the team because they made every game fun no matter the outcome.
Not having to do school work because its nice to do something different.
I am proud of getting two goals because getting goals is good.
Next year I would change sport because football is fun but change is good.

I can recognise and understand a variety of grammatical constructions and some rhetorical patterns
In this unit I have been learning about:
- The parts of speech.

Something new I learnt was what grammatical constructions even are.
The water cycle
The water cycle is the process water goes through between, sea and the atmosphere. The water is relayed through the process. The water changes it’s state throughout the process liquid, gas and solid. There are four stages to the water cycle. They are evaporation, condensation, precipitation and groundwater/runoff.
Evaporation
Evaporation is when the water rises up into the sky and forms clouds. You can’t see it it's an invisible process. Also on a hot sunny day evaporation is greater, Vapor in the air is called, humidity. In a lot of hot places there is a high amount of humidity. Once the water has evaporated it forms into water which is called precipitation.
Condensation and Precipitation
Condensation and Precipitation is when the water falls from the clouds. When the water heats up and then rises to form clouds. Once the clouds get really heavy. It starts to rain or even snow, sleet or hail. After the water falls from the sky some will go in lakes, rivers, mountains and the sea.
Runoff and groundwater
Runoff and groundwater is when the water comes of the mountain. Groundwater is the water underground it can be very clean. When snows on mountains/hills then when it melts and comes down it is called runoff.Groundwater is the water underground which will eventually flow out to sea. Groundwater in Christchurch is very clean due to glaciers.
The water you drink today has gone threw this cycle many times.

I can apply my knowledge of adverbial clauses
I can apply my knowledge of adverbial clauses and connectives to see how ideas are linked in texts.
For reading I have been learning about adverbial clauses. I have found this learning a bit challenging because i didn't know much at first.
In this activity Link! , I had to Identify the adverbial clause in each sentence by highlighting it.

My Student Led Conference
The things I enjoyed most about my SLC were: Sharing my learning with my parents.
What went well and why I was worried before I came because I thought I would muck up but I didn't.
What were the challenges you faced when preparing and presenting your SLC nothing apart from being worried about getting stuck.
What changes would you make for next time and why know where my paintings are because i had finished and we and some time left so I showed my parents my paintings but first I had to find them.

My Short Story
For this piece of writing I have focussing on my vocabulary and punctuation. I have been learning to: use a range of precise vocabulary to communicate meaning (Year ⅞)
- use all basic punctuation independently and attempt more complex punctuation (eg semicolons, colons, parentheses) (Year 7/8)
The pieces of my writing that are highlighted green are where I have shown my vocabulary and punctuation goal
My Story, The engine ripped as the waves smashed against the steal boat, they were heading for a island, that is surrounded by trees in the middle a volcano. Jimmy is told to put on some boots
because recently the lava from the volcano has made the ground really hot, but Jimmy isn't that clever especially when it comes to tying laces, and these boots like most had laces finally they were nearly there.
Then it was silent, the motor cut out. A few seconds later the man said you have to get of here ahead the waters to hot for the boat you will have to swim to shore. So then Jimmy jumped out and headed for land. The driver of the boat wasn't lying about the water it was had bubbles coming up from the heat of the water like when you boil water for pasta. That's probably how they cook on this island .
One he got to the shore there were kids doing all sorts of games in the jungle and on the beach. So then he went off to were he was staying.
It was a little hut with a hammock, and lots of candles there was no electricaty and you don't need heater, when the volcano heats the hole island up so much. He was only staying at the island for two nights so he had to make the most out of it. He talked to some adults and children about how life was there and if they were worried about the volcano. Also he went for a swim it was really nice, as Sun fell kids started to disapere. Adults and Tennagers came out because there were music also people with fire. Then he went to bed. Jimmy is a adventure and planned to explore the forest.
It was hard to get to sleep last night because the music was really loud, and he wasn't used to sleeping In a hammock after about half an hour he moved to the floor which made his back really hot, but he got used to it and fell asleep.
8:32 in the morning it said on his watch but that was wrong his watch was american time, but the sun was so so probably around nine to nine-thirty.
The volcano started to erupt flowing out like a upside down funnel it was flowing really fast but jimmy couldn't see the lava because of the trees. Jimmy was taking a picture of a monkey eating a mango in the background was the volcano the monkey was about ten meters away from jimmy when it started to run away followed by lava coming in hot, he spotted it and started to run not very fast though, he nearly got to the tree line when his laces came undone and he tripped up but didn't know how to tie them and he couldn't get them off they were too tight when he was engulfed by marshmallow like lava. He died...
Then one of the news crew helicopter was reporting how the lava spread across the island
When they spotted something moving! They went into have a closer look. It was man swimming in the lava! That man was jimmy.

I can read and interpret a range of graphs
I can read and interpret a range of graphs
For maths I have been learning to read and interpret a range of graphs. This relates to the National Standards as it meets the criteria of: Delete the ones that are not yours
- I can identify patterns and trends in context, within and between data sets (Year ⅚ standard)
- I can compare distributions visually (Year ⅞ Standard)
- I can compare sample distributions visually, using measures of centre, spread, and proportion (Year 9/10)
Here is link to my Statistical Literacy spreadsheet link Link which shows all of the graphs and tables I can read and interpret.
I have also compared and contrasted some of the graphs. Below are the links to them
My next step is to use these in my leadership investigation next term.

Term 1 Integrated Learning - Leadership
We have been learning all about What makes a good leader.
We identified that good leaders show 6 main character traits. These are Goal Focused, Integrity, Trustworthy, Active thinker, Motivational and Resilient
The leadership trait that I think I show the most is Trustworthy because if the teachers ask me to do something i will do it straight away.
The leadership trait I would most like to develop is Goal Focused because sometimes I go off task but iv been getting better
Something NEW I have learned about leadership is Integrity because I didn't know what it meant but now I know what it means
The SOLO level that I reached during this unit of learning is relational because I wouldn't exactly be able to evaluate where I'm at.
My next step in learning about leadership is to apply everything that I have learned about leadership to my own leadership roles.

PE striking and fielding
WALT: Apply Striking and Fielding activities in a range of sports and activities.
My Strengths
The striking strategies I was able to effectively demonstrate during the games we played were Keep your eye on the ball
The throwing and catching strategies I was able to effectively demonstrate during the games we played were cup your hands or reverse cup as early as possible.
My Next Steps
To improve my striking of a ball I need to follow threw the shot because it will then go further
To Improve my catching and fielding I need to keep my eye in the ball more often because then i might not be dropping as often
The game that I enjoyed the most was rounders because there was so much going on and it was so exciting.
