The Human Fly Trap
This story is about a boy who lives with his Mum, Dad and Sister. They were moving house while his Dad was at work. They had a moving truck that hadn't yet come. It was a really strange town. Their new neighbour was a old lady she came running over shouted get out get out. He went to the bathroom and found police tape in the bin. Later that night he went up to bed early and didn't have any curtains and suddenly lightening struck and a face appeared. I think this book is very enjoyable and you should read it if you like mysteries.

Blog Title: Term 1 Novel Study
Term 1 Novel Study
This term I have been reading and studying the novel See Yah, Simon
I found this novel good because I learnt about muscular dystrophy
During the novel I had to complete two major assessment tasks. The first is an Explain Map which shows the consequences of a major event in the book. The second was a Describe++ Map (Inference map) which shows I how I have connected prior knowledge and other experiences to what I have been reading to make an inference.
National Standard this covers...
- Year 9/10 Standard
- I can monitor my understanding as it develops during my reading, and adjust my strategies to address any comprehension problems Eg: If I don’t understand a passage I have read I can re-read it, read-on, use pictures or diagrams, or explore the meaning of some of the vocabulary.
- I can use strategies to analyse ideas and information and to reflect critically on the meaning I am gaining from my reading. (Eg: I can think about the meaning of the information and ideas and how this fits with what I think)

In PE we have been participating in a variety of games that require little or no equipment.
Below is the Matrix which shows our progression in this unit of learning.
The table below shows my understanding of games with minimal or no equipment.
(Fill this table in, in as much detail as possible. )
Examples of Games that need minimal or no equipment.
|
What equipment would we usually need to play these games.
|
Why do we play games with minimal or no equipment?
|
Invisible touch | Bibs Cones | So we can play them at lunch |
Writing
In writing I have been learning to:
- use all basic punctuation independently
- attempt more complex punctuation (eg semicolons, colons, parentheses)
I have been especially focussing on using parentheses and commas. I have highlighted these in green where I have used them as well as other punctuation that I changed because it was used incorrectly. Here is a piece of my writing that shows this.
One of the leadership traits of an effective leader is Goal focused. An example of a goal focused person is Cristiano Ronaldo because he is determined to score a goal against Lionel Messi. In my my role it is important to be Goal Focused because If were not we might get side tracked about other stuff and get nothing done. The way I am going to show this in my role is to only do one goal at a time and go in a quiet place so I don't get distracted. But as well as being Goal Focused you will need to be Trust Worthy.

Home Learning challenge #3 (Merit)
Today was the garden show it's gone from Wednesday to Sunday today we had to pack up me and Josh were the only ones from the gardening club helping to pack up because the rest weren't there. I showed community by showing up in my weekend to help.

Leadership meeting
Last time we came up with the bin idea but we then got the bins and painted them.
I showed Excellence because I remembered to bring spare clothes and I told a teacher I couldn't go to gardening club because I had other things on.
